Romans 10:17 – “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

The Audio –Visual Ministry mission is to support the church in all of its activities, so that “the word”, in Worship Services and other church functions and events, may be adequately heard and seen. We record our Worship Services on both CD and DVD (audio and video tape upon special request), which are available to purchase, and provide sound reinforcement throughout all areas of the church. We strive for both quality audio and video, working with the Music Ministry to have the proper mix of vocals and musical accompaniment, so that each worship experience is a memorable one. We also coordinate the transmission of Worship Services to members who are sick or shut-in with the Missionary Ministry, by either live feed or recordings.

The Committee meets Quarterly (1st month in every quarter – Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct), 2nd (or 3rd) Saturday of the month @ 10:00 a.m., either in the Main Sanctuary of the church or the Family Life Center.
We seek committed and dedicated individuals, young and old, who are somewhat technically inclined, know a little about audio and video equipment, have a good ear for quality sound and a good eye for quality video. The ability to be on time for services and events, and paying attention during those services is crucial. Also, attention to details is a must.

Care, Comfort, Bereavement

Our mission, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is to assist the leadership of the church in comforting and educating the congregation and the community pertaining to bereavement.

Scriptural Reference: Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted”. (KJV)

Monthly business meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Support meetings (when in session) are the first and third Tuesdays at 6 p.m.

The only criteria is that you have a genuine desire and the commitment to comfort others in their time of need. As we grow in numbers and mature in our ministry through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we seek to provide the congregation and the community with various levels of support and education on bereavement which are normally provided by outside sources.

The ministry also sponsors and cosponsors various public interest meetings, seminars and social activities. 2Samuel 15:28 says “See, I will wait in the plains of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.”

The ministry meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6:00pm. If you have an interest in going outside the walls of this Church to gather useful information that will enhance the Church, its members and the surrounding community, please join us.

The school has an enrolment of 500 pupils. It a coed school with two streams from standard one to eight. Following the introduction of free primary schooling since January 2003, many public primary schools have faced many challenges with the basic resources like provision of classroom, desks in addition to water and toilet facilities. The school has 12 teachers. Of the 12 one is male teacher and the remaining 11 are female.

The school was started in 1985 as an offshoot of the neighboring primary school to take care of the increasing population and to bring schooling nearer to where pupils leave. Since then the physical development of the school has not moved in tandem with the pupil’s population. The members of Rotary Club of Nakuru and the Rotaract club of Egerton University and other stakeholders have tried to provide minimum supports but the many basic needs of the school have remained unmet…

may 2012 Report

Dear Goodwin Memorial,

We would like to send a heartfelt “Thank you!” to all of you, Rev. Dr. Jackson, Dr. Gadsden, and your entire congregation for helping the children at Kaiyaba Primary School in Kenya.

Thanks to your generous donation, the school now has clean water! Many children have died there in the past from waterborne diseases, as well as lack of water in general. You all are making a huge difference in the lives of everyone connected with the school community.

Our ministry has been promoting this need and we thank God that you have stepped up to the plate to meet this need and arrested the enemy that has tormented the children of Kaiyaba for a long time.

Other improvements are underway and being planned, due to our joint efforts with God’s grace and intervention. We have attached a few photos of people working on the pipeline and the flowing water! We look forward to fellowship with you!

In the name of Jesus Christ,

Rev. Dr. Samuel Ndungu

Parents As Educators Outreach Ministry

In Ray A. Lingenfelter’s poem, entitled Parent/Teacher Poem, he beautifully describes the work of two sculptors, one the parent, the other being the classroom teacher and how the two masterfully worked together in developing a child’s mind. President Barack Obama on July 17, 2009 offered the following sobering words to parents, “We can’t tell our kids to do well in school and then fail to support them when they get home.” The overarching theme for both Lingenfelter’s poem and President Obama’s statement is that our children can and will succeed with more parental directed involvement.

We have all heard the old adage, parents make the difference nonetheless scientifically researched based studies regarding successful schools suggest that parental involvement is a significant key factor in continuous student achievement. Here at Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, it is our goal to support parents and family members in becoming effective advocates for their child’s education and ultimately empowering them to assist others. The Parent As Educators Outreach Ministry is that vehicle.

The primary objective of PEOM is to provide caregivers of school-aged children with the most current and relevant scientifically research based resources regarding parental involvement as it relates to increased student achievement. Currently, all the members of this ministry are certified educators in varying academic/social disciplines and are available to address any questions and/or concerns related to the school setting. You can contact members of the PEOM for assistance at

Please consider visiting our web page at on a continuous basis for current parental involvement resources that may be of interest to you. In addition, those who attend church services at Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church can also peruse the Literature Display Stand located in the foyer for printed copies of resources to take home.
