Children’s Church

“Getting children into the Bible and the Bible into children.”

The Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church Children’s Church Ministry Team invites all children ages 6 through 12 to worship with us on the third, fourth, and fifth Sundays of the month. Our primary objective is to assist children in knowing, loving, and following Jesus.

We meet our primary objective as Jesus did. We begin with the Bible! In addition, we utilized creative activities so that children experience God’s Word and have ample opportunities for life application.

The GMBC CCM Team implements the LIVE Children’s Curriculum published by Group. The GMBC CCM Team and curricular developers of the LIVE Children’s Curriculum believe:

  • Children must develop life-changing relationships with adults, other children, and most importantly with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
  • Children must have opportunities to speak, pray, sing, move, and have hands-on learning activities.
  • Children must learn how to utilize biblical truths to answer questions in real life situations in their homes, schools, and communities.
  • Children must be able to utilize all five senses for optimal learning.

The LIVE Children’s Curriculum topics include Bible Basics, Communication, Knowing His Love, My Life, Who God Is, Being Yourself, Knowing His Hope, Remembering What God Has Done, What God Does, Living With Faith, Grasping His Grace, and Serving.

We extend support for families to have faith-based discussions during the week in their homes that embed the following four major themes: Getting to Know God, Building Trust in God, Sticking With God, and Putting God First by distributing the Family Devotion Handouts in both paper and electronic formats. As the GMBC CCM Team fulfills Jesus’ great commission, we thank you for trusting us with your children and we ask for your continuous prayers and support.

The GMBC Children’s Church meets on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, Sundays of each month during our morning service in our Family Life Center. The children are dismissed from service and escorted to the Family Life Center by staff, where they are signed in on attendance sheets. The children must remain in the care of staff until they are picked up by their parent(s) or a registered designee who most on the first occurrence have proper identification.

For the safety of your children, each staff member must submit current Child Abuse and Criminal Background clearances.

For additional information, please contact Mr. James H. Carter, Director of Children’s Church or Dr. Marilyn L. Carter, Assistant Director of Children’s Church, Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM via the Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church Office at 717- 238 – 4400 or email: goodwinmemorial@comcast.net
